IT ALL STARTED WHEN...

Michael Franti sang All the Freaky People Make the Beauty of the World , and something clicked as the fires burned through Sonoma and a hurricane raged over Houston and the Caribbean. We had just had the experience of "totality" when our moon completely covered our sun, and darkness came in the daytime. In that moment, Nursing Ourselves was born...

I thought about how all people in all their uniqueness and beauty have an individual gift to share with the world. Some people, because of circumstance and, let's face it, systematized repression, aren't able to share those gifts.

I won't pretend for one second that I can take their place or speak for them. I just know that it is time to move beyond complacency and comfort and to share my gift: to open my heart and sing my out-of-tune song to whomever will listen.

So, here it is within these pages and on my social media channels-

One truth, coming from the heart of one individual into your space and possibly that of a friend.

Let's journey. Let's go on an adventure. Let's discover our best selves, so that we as nurses, can share that truth with the world.

Me? I am just an ordinary nurse who loves her three kids and hubby dearly. I am an avid CrossFitter, a kung fu chick who loves to eat amazing, beautiful food!
